This paperreviewsone hundredyearhistory ofenevironmental monitoringin USA and pointsoutitscharateristicsand four developing periods. With focusingonthecurrentstatusquoandrecent majoradvances,the paperdemonstratesthebriefsurvey,the conciseevolution,the major advancesandthetrendsin aspectsofst andard analytical methodology, modern analysistechnique, QA/QC program and project,basictrain ofthoughtandrelatedlawsofenvironmental monitoringinthetime periodsequence.
