Based on acolourretardation ofmethylorange with cationicsurfaceactiveagentinwater, Cetylt rim ethyl ammonium bromide wasdetermined byspectrophotometry. Thetestconditionswereoptimized andinter feringsubstanceswere discussed. M ethylorangereacted with cetyltrimethyl ammonium brom ideforming yellow associatedion pairs. Absorptivity was17.48 L/(g cm) in solution ofcetyltrimethyl ammonium bromideranging between 0mg/L and 13.1 mg/L, and colorabsorption obeyedlambert beers'law at470 nm maximum absorptionwavelength ofM ethylorange.
