| The MaxEnt model was utilized to assess the suitability of potential habitats for Paradoxornis heudei(P. heudei)in Nanjing. This study determined the contributions of environmental variables, analyzed the impacts of dominant environmental factors on its distribution, and investigated its spatial distribution patterns. The results indicated that key environmental determinants for P. heudei were annual temperature range (407%), mean temperature of the driest quarter (198%), and population density (121%). The species preferred reed wetland habitats with large temperature fluctuations, low gradient riparian transition zones, and low human disturbance. A total of 40684 km2 of suitable habitat was identified within Nanjing, accounting for 618% of the municipal territory. It was recommended to prioritize the protection of reed wetlands along the Yangtze River, as well as around Shijiu Lake and Gucheng Lake, control human interference and maintain natural hydrological rhythms to ensure long term habitat requirements for P. heudei. |
